A Few Changes to 2013's Kool-Aid Days Line Up

Posted: Updated:

The Kool-Aids Days Board of Directors has announced the addition of a new event to take place during the 16th Annual Festival in Hastings, Nebraska.

A free Senior Fest for adults 55 and older will be added on Friday afternoon at the Hastings City Auditorium. The Senior Fest will allow older adults to enjoy the indoor Kool-Aid Games, play bingo, drink Kool-Aid and be entertained by a magician.

It will run from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday August 9, the first day of Kool-Aid Days which runs through the 11th.

The magic show featuring Aurora magician J. T. Wetherington will start at 3:15 p.m.

Along with the new event being offered during festival weekend, some changes have been made to other events.

Klub Kool-Aid is a members only sneak preview event held on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It boasts entertainment along with the usual opportunity to play games, shop the collectibles, see Kool-Aid man and enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers.

Klub Kool-Aid is a great opportunity for families with young children or grandparents wanting to enjoy time with the grand-kids. The event is not quite as hectic as the atmosphere can be on Saturday during the festival.

This year Klub Kool-Aid members will also enjoy a magic show. J.T. Wetherington will stick around after the Senior Fest to mesmerize the members of Klub Kool-Aid with a show at 7:00 p.m.

Klub Kool-Aid members also receive festival mugs and other collectible items determined by their membership level. For more information on joining Klub Kool-Aid, log on to www.kool-aiddays.com and click on the Klub link.

One additional change to the festival is a new date for the Miss Kool-Aid pageant.

This year's pageant will take place the Saturday before festival weekend.

A new Miss Kool-Aid will be crowned Saturday, August 3 at French Memorial Chapel on the Hastings College Campus. The pageant, which awards scholarships to the winners, will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The new Miss Kool-Aid will then be a spokesperson for the festival the following weekend and at many events throughout the year. Miss Kool-Aid will go on to compete at the Miss Nebraska pageant in North Platte in June 2014.
