This week we salute a Callaway native, Private Joshua Peterson.
Josh graduated in January of 2013 from Callaway High School and is the first student ever to graduate a semester early in the history of Callaway Schools.
Josh is currently in active duty as a member of the U.S. Army and in basic training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.
After basic training finishes up in August, he will fly to Houston to start his advanced training as a health care specialist.
He is enlisted for eight years, all of which he will be stationed overseas. He has a goal to become a combat medic.
After the army, Josh plans to attend college where he hopes to study history and political science.
Josh was nominated by his mother Angie.
She says she doesn't get to talk to her son too often and when they spoke over the Fourth of July holiday it made her so proud to hear her son say he "was born to do this."
She sends her love and says the whole family is proud of him.
Josh has a sister, Bailey, step-dad, William Foster, dad, James Peterson and grandparents, Larry and Barb Meyer of Riverdale and Loren and Cheryl Peterson of Arnold.
Josh, thank you for your service to our country.
