The Kearney community is mourning the loss of a young boy after a tragic weekend accident near Broken Bow.
The Blaine County Sheriff reported Monday that 12-year-old Cole Roseberry, of Kearney, was playing outside with his brother in a soil bank near Dunning on Saturday night when the bank caved in and collapsed on Cole.
CPR was performed at the scene and Cole was taken to Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow by Blaine County Rescue.
Despite their efforts, he died later that night as a result of suffocation.
The boys had been staying with their grandparents near Broken Bow. Cole's father, Dave Roseberry, is the fair manager in Kearney.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Kearney and the burial will be at the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
Memorials are suggested to the "Neighbors In Need" program at First United Methodist Church or to the Kearney Area Animal Shelter.
