Kearney – Cruise Nite enforcement left a few several motorists behind bars and several other party-goers with citations.
Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) arrested two motorists for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and cited 11 juveniles for Minor in Possession of Alcohol (MIP) during special enforcement efforts held Friday and Saturday.
The special enforcement held in and around Buffalo County was planned in conjunction with the annual Kearney Cruise Nite celebration, which ran from July 17 to 21. The efforts centered on weekend activities that included a classic car parade in downtown Kearney Saturday night.
In addition to the DWI arrests and MIP's, troopers issued two open container citations, two citations for possession of marijuana and one seat belt violation.
Six speeding citations were also issued including one for speeds of 100 mph in a 45 mph zone and another for 93 mph in a 50 mph zone.
These arrests and citations are down from last year's celebrations. During Kearney Cruise Nite in 2012, troopers arrested four drivers for DWI and cited 37 juveniles for MIP.
