A Tahoe collided with a bus full of
detasselers in Hastings Tuesday afternoon, sending three to the hospital.
The accident happened on the
intersection of J Street and Showboat Road.
The Tahoe was traveling westbound on J
Street and struck the back, right-side of the bus carrying the detasselers. The
bus was traveling north on Showboat.
Authorities say construction was going
on at the intersection and a stopped semi-truck created a blind spot for the
driver of the Tahoe.
The passengers were moved to a second
bus and two teenage passengers on the bus were taken to the hospital.
Authorities say they showed no visible
signs of injury but had complained of pain.
The driver of the Tahoe was also
transported to the hospital.
Deputy Sheriff Kevin Mauck had some words
of advice to drivers. "Stop at your stop signs and your intersections," he
said. "Look twice before proceeding."
The only sign of visible damage to the
bus was a bent back bumper but it was reported that the Tahoe had not fared so
