State Senator Calls for Increase in Minimum Wage

Posted: Updated:

One Nebraska State Senator has plans to propose an increase in the state's minimum wage during the next legislative session.

Senator Jeremy Nordquist of Omaha says he will introduce a bill to raise the rate from its current $7.25 an hour.

Nordquist and five other lawmakers also released statements calling on the federal government to increase its minimum wage.

The announcement is part of a series of actions taking place around the nation Wednesday, marking the fourth anniversary of the last minimum wage increase.
