This week's outdoor news:

Young anglers had the very comfortable conditions to fish in during the 3rd annual Nebraska High School Fishing Tournament on Saturday.

Twenty-one teams signed up to fish and Harlan Reservoir this year, up from last year's 13 teams.

Many teams had a hard time bringing in any largemouth bass, but a few were able bring some into the boat. Two teams caught five fish, but the Gretna team of Payne Ahrens and Eric Soe took first place with a fish weigh in of 15 pounds.

Soe was awarded for the tournament's biggest fish as well, a 5.5 pounder.

Ahrens and Soe will advance to the regional tournament at Lake Texhoma. Nebraska's representatives won the last two regionals, and the team of Ahrens and Soe will try to make it three.
