It's official! Top quality healthcare can be found right here in your own back yard.
September's Consumer Reports magazine shows Good Samaritan Hospital ranking third in the state for surgical safety and overall safety of the hospital.
The data was compiled in 2011, before their newly implemented surgical facility and equipment upgrades.
Officials say it's a great opportunity to highlight what they already knew about healthcare in central Nebraska.
"Our patients coming in are very intelligent and they are looking at reports and trying to decide what hospital they would like to go to," said Peri-operative Clinical Operator Teresa Wall. "By being ranked in the top five they will know that we are delivering good care here at Good Samaritan Hospital."
"Making the list means that we're being recognized for all the great work we do here, and we've always done here," said Peri-operative Service's Business Manager Kim Swails. "And it sets the bar to say we need to continue doing all the great things we've always done and just get better and climb the list."
Good Samaritan Hospital is ranked third behind Alegent Creighton Health Lakeside Hospital in Omaha and Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
REPORTER'S NOTES: Alegent Creighton Health Bergan Mercy Medical Center and Nebraska Methodist Hospital, both in Omaha, round out the top five list.
