Caril Ann Fugate is in critical condition after a rollover crash in Michigan Monday night.
Generations of Nebraskans might remember the now 70-year-old as the onetime, 14-year-old girlfriend of murderer Charlie Starkweather.
Starkweather was 19 years old when the pair went on a murderous spree across Nebraska and Wyoming in the 1950's. The pair was arrested in connection to the murders of 11 people including members of Fugates' family.
Starkweather was executed in 1959 and Fugate was sentenced to life in prison but she was later paroled in 1976.
Her husband, the driver at the time of the accident, was killed in the crash.
