The Nebraska State Fair wouldn't be what it is without the help from its supporters, and a fundraising effort gives those involved a sneak peek into this year's event.
Hundreds came out to the Heartland Events Center Saturday night, sampling fair food and bidding on auction items, all benefiting the Nebraska State Fair's 1868 Foundation.
It's the 'Blue Ribbon Rollout" -- a fundraiser to help provide financial resources for the fair.
Saturday night's event provided a fun atmosphere to help supporters take ownership of their investment.
"We're just two weeks from the Nebraska State Fair, and this is a way to really kick it off, get the community excited for the upcoming fair," said 1868 Foundation's Lindsey Koepke. "And it's a chance for us to provide a neat atmosphere like tonight for the community that's so supportive of us."
Organizers hope to raise about $50,000 that will go towards an improvement project for next year's fair.
