Sunday Salute: Gregory Pollnow

Posted: Updated:

This week we salute a McCook Nebraska native, Staff Sergeant Gregory Pollnow, stationed at the McConnell air force base in Wichita.

Gregory is a Crew Chief with the 22nd maintenance squadron, providing support to refueling tankers. He was recently deployed to al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

He graduated from McCook High School and enlisted in the Air Force in 2005.

Gregory decided to join the military shortly after his cousin was killed in Iraq. He said "I feel like I need to be doing something more to help protect this country."

He was first assigned as a mechanic to a fighter aircraft and then promoted to a dedicated crew chief before receiving his current assignment.

In his free time he enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities like motocross, target shooting and of course husker football.

His family lives in McCook and he is hoping to be back in December for the birth of his sister's child. He's excited to be an uncle.

Gregory, thank you for your service to our country.
