Increased Traffic Expected Over Labor Day Weekend Compared to Previous Years

Posted: Updated:

If your heading out over the upcoming holiday weekend, officials say you should be prepared for traffic.

You might be planning a trip out-of-state or maybe you are planning a trip to the state fair in Grand Island over Labor Day weekend, but wherever you go, it is likely you won't be alone on the road.

AAA predicts around 34 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles to celebrate over the extended weekend this year.

That estimate is up more than 4 percent over last year, and at its highest level since 2008.

AAA credits the upward projection with an improving economy, increased consumer spending and a recovering housing market.
