Friends and family of a Nebraska gubernatorial candidate have come together for a campaign sendoff.
Supporters of state Senator Tom Carlson met over dinner in Overton Sunday night, as he begins campaigning in his run for governor.
Carlson officially threw his hat in the ring about five weeks ago.
He says being from rural Nebraska is an important factor for running, especially with his experience.
"Agriculture is our number one state, I've been chair of the Ag committee for four years in the Legislature, and I'm chair of the Natural Resources committee dealing with water issues, so that's huge," said Carlson. "I'm a friend of agriculture and I'll stay that way."
Carlson and his wife plan to reach all 93 counties in Nebraska during his campaign for the governor's seat.
