Sentencing Set for Woman Convicted in Fatal Accident Near Hershey

Posted: Updated:

A 19-year-old western Nebraska woman has pleaded no contest in the death of her friend after losing control of her car last March.

Casey Lake pleaded no contest to felony vehicular homicide in a Lincoln County courtroom Monday.

Authorities say Lake lost control of her car while traveling down Interstate 80 east of Hershey on March 16.

Lake's friend, 19-year-old Emma Redinger, of Ogallala, was killed in the rollover accident.

Prosecutors say Lake was driving more than 100 mph and that she had been drinking. Additionally, authorities say she had been texting around the time of the accident.

Her sentencing has been scheduled for Nov. 4.
