If the latest edition of the Farmer's Almanac is right, get ready for a bitterly cold winter with a half dozen major snow storms. One of these storms would be just in time for next year's Super Bowl.
The new 2014 Farmer's Almanac" was published Monday and is predicting a particularly active year for winter storms.
Another prediction in the almanac is a big snowstorm the first week of February in the New York and New Jersey area. That's the same time and location of Super Bowl 48 next year set to take place outdoors at MetLife stadium.
"We're saying it's going to be an intense storm with heavy rain, snow and strong winds. You can conjure up whatever it is going to be with combination of rain, snow, sleet and lots of wind that would impact the game. I do not think it will impact people getting to the stadium, but will impact how the game is played," said an Almanac official.
According to the Farmer's Almanac officials, the almanac has an 80- to 85-percent accuracy rate.
