The Nebraska department of health and human services says majority of mosquito activity occurs during September.
Currently there are three cases of West Nile Virus in the Two Rivers district and 14 cases have been reported across the state.
The mosquitos will be here until a hard freeze comes through and kills the bugs.
The Two Rivers public health department has some advice.
"If you are going to be outside in the mornings in the evenings when mosquitos are around, if you are going out to sporting events, if your kids are going to practices in the evening. Don't forget your DEET or another insect repellent. Use it and stay safe," said Terry Krohn Director of Two Rivers Public Health Department.
Another safe precaution from West Nile Virus is to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants.
