Neb. Abandons Attempt to Block Birth Control Ruling

Posted: Updated:

Nebraska has abandoned its attempt to block a health care rule that requires employers to cover birth control for employees.

Attorney General Jon Bruning's office has dropped its appeal of a federal judge's dismissal of a law-suit challenging the new law.

Bruning's office is now exploring the best way to challenge law.

In early 2012 Bruning joined other republican state attorneys general to sue to try to block the law. They claimed the rule violated the rights of employers that object to the use of contraceptives on religious grounds.
