Starting next year the retail giant Walmart will offer health insurance benefits to same-sex couples and domestic partners.
The company notified employees of the change with a postcard mailed out this week.
It applies to same sex couples as well as domestic partners of opposite genders who have been living together and in a committed relationship for at least one year.
This comes after the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act that defined marriage as between a man and a woman.
Workers will now be able to enroll for these benefits from October 12th through November 1st.
