Work will soon be completed on a $138 million wind farm in southeast Nebraska.
The Steele Flats Wind Project by Florida-based NextEra Energy Resources is expected to be operational by December.
Minnesota-based Blattner Energy is the main contractor on the project that includes 44 turbines -- 32 in Jefferson County and 12 in Gage County.
The 75 megawatt wind farm will be able to produce enough electricity to power 19,000 homes.
The project will also be connected to the Nebraska Public Power District substation in Steele City.
