The body of a 29–year–old Lexington man was discovered at Johnson Lake early Saturday morning.
The Gosper County Sheriff's Department was called to the 'Swim Beach' area at the lake, around 8:45 Friday night, after reports of a missing swimmer who was observed to go under but didn't surface.
Several agencies were called to help with the search, but the search had to be called off when weather became too severe.
Authorities continued the search Saturday morning, and recovered the body of Gilberto David Selcido.
"We're very fortunate we have all those agencies and different resources. Each one has to come in and handle calls like this," said Chief Deputy Craig Ward. "Like I said, it's been 25 years since they've had a drowning out here, so it's not an every day practice and these guys from the Lexington dive team that keep up on their certification to do this maybe once a year, that 'that's a great asset to have in the area."
No drugs or alcohol is suspected. Nebraska Game and Parks, Elwood Fire and Rescue, Lexington Fire and Rescue, and Johnson Lake EMS all helped with the search and recovery effort.
