Showing one of their own the power of support, a community comes together in his time of need.
From t-shirt sales to free-will donations; the Ravenna community showed their support for Tim Mieth and his family.
Tim isn't only fighting cancer, but just recently lost his job as well.
He grew up north of Ravenna and hasn't lived here for over 20 years, but the family is grateful for everyone's gift of friendship.
"It's so overwhelming seeing all these people here. This community is so awesome, people are coming from a long ways away, some are here from Brady today," said Tim's sister Tania Daly. "It's just great to see the support that all the community members are giving, it's just awesome seeing how everyone is so caring and concerned."
"It's just amazing to see how many people come out to a thing like this," said Tim. "I didn't know that many people were going to show up, they did, I just. I appreciate it all, I really do."
Organizers were hoping to raise enough to help Tim's family pay for a couple months of utility bills, and ended up raising more than $9,000.
REPORTER'S NOTES: If you missed out on Sunday's benefit but would like to help support Tim and his family, an account has been set up in his name at Town And Country Bank, and can be taken to any branch location including Ravenna, Pleasanton, Litchfield and Kearney.
