Duck season came early to Grand Island on Saturday, as duck hunters gathered to find a rare species.
Yellow rubber ducks were "plucked" from the water Saturday afternoon at the 11th annual Leadership Tomorrow fundraising event.
Seventeen lucky duck winners got a prize, but the money also helps fund scholarships for both adult and youth programs to develop future leaders in the community.
"It's a very great program. Many of our graduates go on to become board members, volunteers, and they also become better employees," said Leadership Tomorrow Executive Director Brenda Bramstiter. "They've decided to step out of their comfort zone and take on lead positions, so the impact is just huge, but we can't measure it because there's 800 alumni."
The top prize for Saturday's 'Duck Pluck' was $5,000 cash.
Officials are hoping to raise $20,000 to support the program.
