Global markets advisor opines with finance leaders in Asia on Japan's reflationary policies; examines the future of 'Abenomics'
TOKYO, Sept. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Global markets trader and advisor Shawn Baldwin, Chairman and CEO of Capital Management Group, joined finance leaders from across Asia on Monday at the G1 Summit to discuss Japan's reflationary policies.
The G1 conference convenes leaders in government, business, academia, the arts and media to not only discuss market challenges but to seek solutions and commitments to take action toward improvements.
Baldwin, who has written extensively about the yen in Forbes and Fast Company magazines, participated on the panel, "Monetary Policy of 'Abenomics': Overview and Impact," an examination of Japan's reflationary policies and whether they can successfully pull the economy out of deflation. Baldwin is also a markets advisor to governments in Africa and the Middle East.
"I expect Japan to become more aggressive in every area, including finance," Baldwin said. "The Japanese want to take full advantage of the future, and their posterity will be tied to their economic might."
The changing winds in Japan certainly have global implications, Baldwin says, because the world economy uses Japan as a safe haven.
"Money has been parked in Japan because the yen can take the capacity due to the fortitude of the Japanese investors," Baldwin said. "Changes in policy will affect the market's capacity for risk on, risk off investments, which will make market sentiment less predictable."
Baldwin was joined on the panel by Jesper Koll, Managing Director and Head of Japanese Equity Research, JPMorgan Securities, Japan Co. Ltd. United Kingdom; Oki Matsumoto, Chairman and CEO, Monex Group Inc.; Thierry Porte, Managing Director, J.C. Flowers and Co., LLC; and Hiromichi Mizuno, Partner and Head of Asia, Coller Capital.
