A Naponee woman is appealing her 22 year sentence for her role in the death of her 2-year-old son.
Last month, 25-year-old Laura
Rinehart, was given a sentence of 12 to 22 years in prison after pleading no contest to attempted child
abuse in the April 2012 death of her son, Joseph Rinehart Jr.
Authorities say she did
nothing to stop her father, 48-year-old Peter
Draper, from abusing Joseph at the home they all shared in Naponee.
Joseph died after being taken to the hospital with head injuries and internal injuries caused by blunt force
Draper was found guilty of two child abuse charges and is set to be sentenced on Oct. 10. His wife, Nancy Draper, was sentenced alongside her daughter to 20 to 30 years in prison.
Rinehart says in her appeal that her sentence is excessive.
