Govt. Shutdown Looms, House Divided On Health Care Act

House democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is accusing republicans of intentionally trying to cause a government shutdown.
Democrats and republicans have just days to reach a deal on a spending plan to keep the government funded.
The republican-led house passed a plan Friday that would fund the government but would also strip funding for the health care reform law.
"They want to shut down government," said Pelosi.
"The effect of putting the Obama- the Affordable Care Act is to shut down government. They know that. They know that has no prospect of prevailing," she said.
Aides to the president say he will beef up his defense of the Affordable Care Act all week, starting with an event with Bill Clinton Tuesday to that will keep up the pressure on shutdown supporters.
Senate democrats have said they plan to reject the GOP proposal.
If a deal isn't reached by the end of the month the U.S. risks a possible government shutdown which would mean many federal offices, museums and parks would close and paychecks to soldiers would be delayed.
