Now that school is back in session, it's time to recognize those who make a positive difference in our children's lives.
Sam Sokol, a 7th grader at Centura Public Schools, nominated his teacher, Kim Steffen for NTV's September Outstanding Teacher.
Sam says Ms. Steffen makes her day special, and she encourages her to do her best every day.
"I saw the commercial one day and thought it would be cool to write about my favorite teacher," Sam said, "because she uses the most technology and she's the most fun."
"I'm very proud of that," shared Ms. Steffen upon hearing that Sam had nominated her. "It means a lot that she would take the time to do that and that she feels like I've had that kind of impact on her. It's, it's touching."
School officials say Ms. Steffen is a perfect example of the school's mission to help their students.
"Our school vision statement is 'a school community about student's excellence and innovation,'" said Superintendent Julie Otero. "And when you think of somebody like Ms. Steffen, she embodies a school about students, about innovation, and about excellence and everything she does with them."
This is Ms. Steffen's 27th year of teaching, but just recently moved from grade school to middle school.
The 7th grade class will receive lunch from Runza. Congratulations to Ms. Kim Steffen, NTV's September Outstanding Teacher.
