Grand Island Fieldhouse Inviting Residents to Help Break World Record

Posted: Updated:

An attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most players to participate in a knockout basketball game has been scheduled as a special part of Grand Island's Community Fieldhouse opening weekend schedule of events.

The attempt to hold the world's largest game of knockout will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. with registration starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Community Fieldhouse, 525 E. Fonner Park Road.

In order for Grand Island to break the world record, at least 572 people have to successfully participate and complete the scheduled game of knockout. People of all ages can participate in this potentially record breaking event. However, participants must be able to shoot baskets without the assistance of parents.

There is no fee to participate in the actual event, though standard rates will apply before and after the event.

Prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

The Fieldhouse is also seeking volunteers to help with the required documentation and general logistics of this event. Individuals interested in helping should contact Steve at the Fieldhouse, 308-384-1999 or stevefa@grand-island.com, by noon on Thursday, Oct. 3.
