A Scottsbluff man convicted of robbing a bank on the day before Thanksgiving last year has been given 20 years behind bars.

Michael Scott, 43, pleaded guilty to robbing a Valley Bank branch in Scottsbluff in August and was sentenced Monday in Scotts Bluff County District Court.

As part of the plea deal, Scotts Bluff County Attorney Doug Warner has agreed not to refile theft and fraud charges related to more than $8,000 in losses with bank ATM cards.

Additionally, Scott was given a consecutive sentence of a year after pleading guilty in July to possession of methamphetamine in connection with the bank robbery.
