Score one for academics; two neighboring elementary school districts have received top awards for the same achievement.
School pride shines a bit more in parts of central Nebraska, as both Ord Elementary and Burwell Elementary schools were chosen as National Blue Ribbon Award winners.
It's a measure of academic performance, awarding high achieving schools that do well in assessments.
Both schools are one of only 286 in the country, and everyone is proud of the recognition.
"It's just like really cool, and out of all the schools we were one of them who got chosen because they recognized we were working hard," said Ord student Ellie Fields. "And I think all the schools worked hard, we were just one of the schools that got recognized for it."
"I mean we're 16 miles away from Ord, Nebraska, and that just says something about the kids in our area. We've always achieved high, it's just that we were recognized for it", said Burwell Elementary Principal Gordon Goodman. "And being 16 miles apart from Ord and they received the award the same exact year that we do, that's just phenomenal, just an awesome experience."
Three other Nebraska schools have received this distinction, including Wauneta–Palisade.
School representatives will attend an official ceremony in Washington D.C. in November.
