shutdown has claimed another victim, this one being the monthly jobs report.
The Department of Labor
confirmed the employment data scheduled to be released at the start of the
month will not be sent out.
Officials blamed a short-handed
staff and said there simply aren't enough workers to get the information out
among other essential duties that must be completed.
The last time a jobs
report was delayed happened in 1996 during another government shutdown.
That data came out two
weeks later in that case.
