The stalemate in Washington
could mean higher grocery prices for some of the items on your list.
With congress dealing
with the government shutdown and debt ceiling, it's not likely they will pass a
new Farm Bill with so many other issues on their plate.
Failure to pass a new
Farm Bill could mean sharply higher prices for milk, cheese and butter.
For now threat is far
away and impacts would hold off until the New Year.
If a new bill isn't
signed into law by January 1st, the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be
forced to revert back to 1949 laws. This would force the government to pay more
for dairy products which would in turn drive up the cost for everyone.
