A trial date has been set for a 26-year-old York man accused of exchanging gunfire with a York County deputy in August.
Max McCall faces six charges, including multiple weapons charges and attempted assault of an officer. His attorney pleaded not guilty to these charges for McCall on Monday.
According to York County officials, a deputy was responding
to a domestic violence report on Aug. 11 when he spotted McCall in his vehicle and ended up in a
short pursuit that ended when McCall's vehicle went into a ditch.
McCall then allegedly emerged from his vehicle with a
rifle and fired twice at the deputy, who was not hit. The officer
returned fire, striking McCall twice.
McCall had to be air-lifted to a Lincoln hospital.
The trial is set to begin Dec. 3. McCall remains in jail pending bail of $250,000.
