Authorities say they have found the teen girl suspected of attacking another student at Lincoln Pius X on Monday in southeast Kansas.
Lincoln police spokeswoman Katie Flood says 16-year-old Sarah Piccolo, who went missing after Monday's incident, was found around 10 a.m. Tuesday in Woodson County, Kan. She is being held at a juvenile detention facility until she can be taken back to Lincoln.
Police say Piccolo is suspected of stabbing 17-year-old Ellen Kopetzky in one of the school's bathrooms around 9:45 a.m.
Kopetzky received cuts to her face and was taken to the hospital
where she had undergone surgery. Her family has issued a statement
asking people to pray for Piccolo and her family and to treat them with
respect and mercy.
Officials released pictures of Piccolo and information about her car after she left the school Monday and could not be found. It is normally not the policy of NTV to release the names of juveniles accused of crimes.
