October is National Bullying Awareness Month, and Monday, the Kearney Public School district supported this anti–bullying campaign.
Students in Kearney schools were encouraged to wear a blue t–shirt. The point of having students and faculty walks the halls in t–shirts of the same color was to bring unity in the student body; this week is unity week.
This is put in place to bring students close to someone who they might not usually consider a friend.
Each day of this week has a theme to it.
One Kearney teacher explains what she hopes students get from this week.
"The goal is just to help unite the students as one so that they can at least come to respect one another and acknowledge people's differences as a good thing as supposed as a bad thing," said Abigail Edwards.
Over the summer some students in the area were bullied through a local Facebook group.
