Poor Firearm Safety Cause of Accidental Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Poor firearm safety has been determined as the cause of an accidental shooting in Gosper County.

The Gosper County Sheriff's Office was informed shortly before noon on Monday that 22-year-old Eric Fisher of McCook was being treated for a gun-shot wound at Cambridge Hospital.

Fisher was sitting on an ATV in a pasture while a relative sat on another ATV holding a loaded 243 rifle. The gun accidentally went off and Fisher was hit.

Fisher was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital shortly thereafter.

Authorities say a person should never carry a loaded firearm on a recreational vehicle.
