North Platte – The Nebraska State Patrol has seized more than 12 lbs. of marijuana over the weekend.

Two people were arrested after the weekend traffic stop on Interstate 80 just west of the North Platte interchange after officers found a duffel bag stuffed with pot in the trunk of their car.

Just before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday a trooper stopped an eastbound 2012 Chevy Impala for speeding on I-80, a few miles west of the North Platte interchange.  An NSP K-9 indicated the odor of drugs coming from the vehicle.

A search of the car turned up the bag of marijuana.

The driver, 29-year-old David J. Evans of Newcastle, Calif., and a passenger 23-year-old Felicia MacDowell of Converse, Texas, were both lodged in Lincoln County Detention Center.

They are each charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
