Prescription Drug Take-Back Planned for Oct. 26

Posted: Updated:

Local law enforcement agencies are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration on Oct. 26 to host another Prescription Drug Take-Back event.

Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island will be accepting unwanted and expired prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Individuals can drop off the unwanted medications at the Saint Francis Medical Center Patient Tower Lobby at 2620 West Faidley Ave.

Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney will be accepting medications for disposal in the north parking lot during the same hours.

The service is free and anonymous — no questions asked.

In April, nearly 742,500 pounds of prescription medications were collected from members of the public at more than 5,829 locations nation-wide.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposal.

To find a drop-off site near you, visit the DEA's webpage for the event.
