Tax Season Will be Delayed Thanks to Shutdown

Posted: Updated:

You'll have to wait a bit longer than usual to file your taxes for this year thanks to the partial government shutdown.

The Internal Revenue Service said it will delay the start of the tax filing season by up to two weeks.

The IRS said the move was necessary to allow for adequate time to program and test tax processing systems following the 16-day federal government closure.

The original 2014 filing season was set to begin January 21st.
