Posted: Updated:

Two Rivers Public Health Department officials are promoting the upcoming National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The Drug Enforcement Administration has set the next take-back day for Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event allows individuals with unwanted and unused prescription drugs as well as over the counter medications to safely dispose of them.

In the Two Rivers district the following places will be accepting medications:

  • The Buffalo County Take Back will be held in the parking lot north of Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
  • The Franklin County Take Back will be held at the Franklin County Courthouse.
  • The Phelps County Take Back will be held at the Holdrege Middle School South Driveway.

Health officials ask that you don't bring any syringes or needles and advise that it is not necessary to cross names off of bottles or dump all pills into one back. All medications and packaging gets incinerated together, protecting personal information.
