Putting the spotlight on veterans, Hall County opens a new office to serve them better.
The former Public Safety Center next to the courthouse has opened its doors to veterans.
It's a more spacious location for those who do business in the office. There's more room for files and computers, but Veterans Services Officer Don Shuda explains it's also about serving veterans with dignity.
He said, "It makes the work environment so much more enjoyable. It's allowed our employees to have private offices. We deal with so much private information, medical information from our families and clients. It gives them the privacy they need."
Hall County is currently raising money to support Korean War "Hero Flights".
County Supervisor Gary Quandt completed a stay on top of the county courthouse all weekend in honor of that effort, and to open the new veterans service office in Grand Island.
