A former Hall County sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to one year of probation for stealing money from the county.
In addition to the year of probation, a judge ordered 35-year-old Kevin Bombeck to pay nearly $1,500 in restitution.
Authorities say Bombeck used his department's computer system to claim military leave on his paycheck despite not actually attending five scheduled training sessions for the U.S. Army Reserve.
Bombeck apologized during his sentencing hearing Tuesday and said he wanted to take full responsibility for his actions.
Bombeck was fired from the department on January 17. He joined the department in August 2010.
