College officials say they have been ranked number one among two-year colleges as a "Best for Vets" school by Military Times, a news publication for American service men and women.
"We're honored to receive national recognition for our efforts," said Travis
Karr, director of veteran and military services at CCC. "It's the result of the
hard work of all CCC employees and the support they give to our veteran
Six-hundred schools submitted information about their offerings for veterans. The survey evaluated the schools in five categories, including university culture, student support, academic quality, academic policies and financial aid.
CCC was rewarded for its veterans office, which provides resources and programs for veterans and service members, as well as giving credits for military training and offering programs and tuition rates covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Additionally, Karr says the college ranks at the top because of its required training for staff members to understand the challenges facing veteran students. The college also lends its knowledge to other schools to enhance their veteran services.
