Tech and Web Giants Team Up Against Child Porn Online

Posted: Updated:

Google and Microsoft are working to clear the internet of child porn.

More than 200 Google workers spent the past three months working on preventing child sex abuse content from appearing in its search results.

The search-engine giant cleaned up results for over 100,000 searches known to lead to child porn results.

Another 13,000 searches related to child porn will now lead users to warnings, advising web users that child sex abuse is illegal and offer advice on how to get help.

Also, new Microsoft picture detection technology will apply a unique identification mark to child porn content. Then all copies will immediately be removed from the web.

Google said Microsoft deserves a lot of credit for developing and sharing that technology.

The news comes a week after the arrest of nearly 350 people around the world in an international child sex abuse investigation.
