Harvest Nearly Complete, Winter Wheat Looking Good in Nebraska and Kansas

Posted: Updated:

Harvest season is all but completed in Nebraska after another week of good days for field work.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, farmers were able to get in the fields early last week during dry conditions.

The corn harvest is 96 percent complete, ahead of the 90 percent average; and soybean harvest is also ahead of schedule with 99 percent completed.

Winter wheat is also progressing well in Nebraska with more than 70 percent of the crop rated good or excellent.

Kansas is also seeing good harvest and wheat crop numbers.

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, 98 percent of the corn crop has been harvested, along with 95 percent of the soybeans.

The winter wheat crop is looking mostly good as the cold weather sets in. The agency says 56 percent of the crop is rated in good condition and 33 percent in fair condition.

Just 4 percent of the crop is rated in poor or very poor shape.
