Members of a relatively new and small party will soon receive notices that their party has been dissolved.
Nearly 300 registered voters in Nebraska belonging to the Americans Elect party will be affected by the dissolution which will go into effect on both a state and national level.
Americans Elect was launched as a national effort to conduct an online convention to nominate presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2012 election ballot.
After a successful petition drive in March of 2012, it became a recognized party in Nebraska. However, the online nomination effort was not successful and no Americans Elect candidate ever appeared on any state presidential ballot in 2012.
Voters who are registered with Americans Elect in Nebraska will be informed of the dissolution and given an opportunity to re-register with another state-recognized political party.
County election officials will no longer accept voter registration applications where Americans Elect has been indicated as the party of choice.
