Another holiday shopping season is officially in the books, and local retailers are pleased with the results.
Many shop owners say they've seen significant increases from last year.
Owners said people who didn't want to deal with the chaos of black Friday, knew they would find great items at their local shops.
"Most of our downtown businesses are really destination stores themselves," said Main Street Kearney Manager Dick Reiter, "and people are going to come to them for the kinds of things they sell."
"I think people like to go downtown and I think they like to do it as families, as a group, not running in and out fighting the crowds," said Western Wear shop owner Kate Gary. "They like to come in and laugh and have a good time and shop around, try things on, take their time, not in a big hurry all the time, I think it makes a big difference."
Reiter said he expects this holiday season to be a good one for local stores.
