A western Nebraska man accused of trying to run over his son-in-law has pleaded not guilty.

Ted Evans, 67, entered his plea Monday in Lincoln County District Court. He is charged with felony second-degree assault.

The incident occurred Aug. 26, not long after Evan's son-in-law, Lawrence Kidd, was released from jail after serving time for domestic assault.

Witnesses say that as Evans aimed his vehicle at Kidd and tried to run over him, Evans drove through the backyard of Kidd's home and into a neighbor's yard.
