Washington, D.C. – One Nebraska lawmaker will help send some holiday cheer to thousands of our country's servicemen.
Congressman Adrian Smith collected more than 10,000 cards for the Red Cross Holiday Mail for Heroes program.
The program gives Americans the opportunity to send holiday greetings and thanks to service-members, veterans and their families around the world. Smith's offices in Scottsbluff and Grand Island served as collection points for constituents to drop off postage free cards.
"I am truly grateful and inspired by the outpouring of support from Third District residents for our troops, veterans, and military families this holiday season," said Congressman Smith.
He expressed appreciation for everyone involved and said it shows a lot about Nebraska's attitude toward our military members.
"Together we have shown once again the commitment of Nebraskans to those in uniform who serve our nation" said Smith.
