Winter weather has found its way to Nebraska as temperatures across parts of the western half of the United States fall to nearly 40 degrees below average.
Snow is falling in northern Nebraska thanks to a storm system that heaped snow on the Rockies.
National Weather Service said Wednesday that 10.5 inches of snow has
been recorded over 18 hours in Valentine, and further east, 5.4
inches was recorded in Butte.
Other parts of the state are being hit by snow and ice.
The cold weather isn't just impacting people in Nebraska, citrus crops in California and Texas are threatened by the low temperatures and several weather-related accidents have been reported in states seeing precipitation.
