A New Zealand company has plans to move its headquarters to Kearney.
In addition to the move, Xylemer Bioproducts also plans to build a biomass resin plant in the city.
The plant will use distillers grains to create products for the plastics industry. Distillers grains are a byproduct of the ethanol fuel production process and other byproducts like rice hulls and beet pulps have been successful in recent trials.
Marge Lauer, of Kearney Area Ag Producers Alliance, said the plant is schedule to be up and running by the end of 2014 and will bring in about a dozen new jobs to the area.
